Sometimes your contact list gets a little cluttered, and you want to downsize it a little bit. It’s easy to delete someone from your contact list using the Telegram app. Here’s how you can quickly eliminate someone from the list if you no longer wish to have that person as a Telegram friend.
How to Delete Contacts From Telegram
The first step toward removing someone from your contact list is to open your Telegram app. Next, head over to the three-bar menu icon in the top left corner of your screen and tap it. You’ll see a host of menu options, and one of them will be “contacts.”
Tap on that icon, and it will open so that you can advance to the next step. Alternatively, you can tap the pencil icon on the bottom right of the screen, and you will accomplish the same thing.
You’ll see your contact list once you tap “contacts.” The next step is to choose the contacts you want to remove from your contacts list. You can do that by tapping on the name of the person you want to delete.
That tap will open the person’s profile so that you have access to some commands from that screen.
You will see three small dots in the top right corner of your phone’s screen. Tap that and then select “delete contact.” You’ll see a confirmation pop-up show up on your screen.
It will ask you if you’re absolutely sure that you wish to delete that person from your contact list. Tap “delete” to delete the contact if you’re sure. You can then move on and use the app without that person on your contact list anymore.
You may repeat the process for various people if you need to remove more than one.
Blocking as an Alternative
Maybe you’re wondering if you should block certain people instead of deleting them from your contact list. It’s a logical choice if you think the users will try to contact you again. Blocking is a simple process as well.
The first step to block someone on the Telegram app is to open the app. You can either tap the pencil icon on the bottom right of the screen or tap the menu icon in the upper-left area of your screen. Doing either of those actions will take you to the same place where you’ll see your contacts.
Look at the list and tap the name of the contact you want to block. You will see three dots in the upper right portion of your screen. Tap those three dots to open the options.
You’ll see the option to “block user.” Tap it if you want to block that particular user. You’ll see a pop-up dialogue asking if you’re sure that you want to block that user.
You can continue by tapping “block user” again if you’re confident that you do not want any further contact from that individual at all. Blocking is the best option when you want your decision to be absolute.
